This Central American Acacia comes with an interesting story. Its large, "bull horn" shaped thorns are sharp and keep some animals away but it has other methods of protection in case that that doesn't work.In nature this plant has developed a symbiotic relationship with ants. The ants take shelter inside the thorns and in return protect the plant from browsing animals and bugs that might enjoy eating the plant's leaves.
